Share What Is Happening In Your Local Units

On of the great things about a blog is that you can share and learn from your friends around the district. What has your unit been doing this summer? What special event did your group participate in the Spring or what's coming up this Fall? What did you learn at the Conference Cooperative School of Christian Mission?

In the comment section below, let us know what is happening with you and your unit. Check in often and read all those comments (we hope) from others.

One of the new things my unit, First UMC, Jacksonville, is doing this summer is having a Hands On Mission work day each month. We don't meet usually in the summer so this year we are spending time on our kits for Sanger Brown. Some make the school bags or the sweaters for the layette kits. We put the kits together and see what other items we need. We also have a coupon cutting project going and send the coupons to military bases overseas. We have drawn in a few non-UMW members with this event also.

Chandler UMW just completed a wonderful UMW weekend. On Sat. Aug. 25 Stacey Hawkins led "Resurrection Women" spiritual growth retreat. We had 4 to visit from Edom and 2 from New Hope giving us a total of 14. It was a blessing and Stacey did a great job. On Sunday Carolyn "Cee Cee" Gordan spoke at our UMW Sunday. Carolyn is familiar to many as she has taught worksops at various UMW Covference and Dist. meetings. She is a great resource and will bless your life! We missed you who did not attend! This summer our Children's Sunday School focused on missions they did a hands on mission activity each Sunday. Various adult Sunday School classes brought health kit items and the kids put them together the last mission focus Sunday. We have around 50 kits!

I think this is great. I would like to have more info. on the coupons and where we send them for military families. This is a blessing for them.
Have a great day.
